Like many families, we have been unable to see our children and parents during the Covid lockdowns as travel has been so restricted. Since overnight stays were allowed, we have been busy catching up with our family. One recent trip was up to London to see my two sons.
Whilst they were working during the day, we were able to enjoy London with a lot less tourists about, including a photo walk around Shoreditch and Brick Lane. I wanted to capture old and new architecture in Shoreditch plus some of the colourful and topical street art around Brick Lane.
Anyone can do this and it can be done anywhere. You don't need fancy equipment either, just a phone or compact camera. If you like, you can have a plan of your route, or just have a wander around your local area. You can choose just to catalogue the things you see or set yourself a challenge to photograph things relating to a particular theme. There is no right or wrong way to do this. The only thing you should do is observe the things around you. Take time to stop and look around, look behind you and don't forget to look up too. Some topic ideas for photo walks could include architecture, plants, pattern, textures, landscapes, signs, seasonal changes or colours. It's your walk and you can choose to capture whatever images you want. Feel free to share your ides with me on my Facebook page.
I hope you enjoy the selection of images I have chosen.
