Sunflowers are a particularly significant flower for me. Yellow was my Grandad's favourite colour and I had the gorgeous sunny stems in my wedding bouquet. I also worked with bunch of super ladies for many years and we collectively named ourselves the Sunflowers.
In Cornwall we are blessed with a perfect climate for growing not only crops, but also flowers. There are many farms that specialise in floral produce and for a photographer like me, a field of blooms is always an attractive subject. So, when a local farm opened up their sunflower field for the weekend, I couldn't wait to go; events like these are great opportunities for a photo story.
It was great weather for sunflowers although a little harsh for photographs. But with these one off events, you just have to work with what you are given and get snapping. Below is a selection of the images I took. Click on any photo to view an enlarged slide show view of the shots.
